So I was recently working at a camp that must not be named in Washington. it owns over 5,000 acres and we use them all. it is an epic camp and there is a lot of wild life living there, we just didn't encounter all of it until these past few years. Supposedly there was a cougar last year, and this year was the year of the bear. Let me break it down for you. it all started with Tatonka and Palouse when first Tatonka came back to their campsite and found there stuff
clawed into as well as a disgusting musky odor. they moved to another location and kept an eye out. The next time it was at the horse corral and one of the horse got spooked by the bear and
broke the wranglers fingers. Now by this time we have called fish and wildlife services, but we never really had a exact location of this bear. Wednesday. on the night of overnights (when we go really sleep in the woods and not in our comfy cabins) the bear was spotted right outside of Discovery Lodge. I was leading our lodge of at this point 15 girls to Discovery when I heard yelling and car honking. I immediately stopped and made the lodge wait for a second till we got the ok to start again. and we began to make loud noises. we are waiting at discovery for a good long while before we got the ok to go to the
new overnight spot because we wanted all of us be on the side the bear hasn't been spotted. Oh how wrong we were.So we get to the overnight spot and I was assigned hiffy duty (hole.in.forest.for.you) and right as we were walking back the bear came to visit. this wasn't a cub. this was a adult female black bear. about 200lbs. I was doing everything I reamembered we were taught. I waved my arms, made loud noises, and had a camper join me to appear larger, but it didn't work, the bear
kept coming! so we took all of the girls to the chapel (which was only 100 yds away) and waiting there till fish an wildlife came. The funny thing was, I wasn't afraid for my own life, I was worried about the girls. I knew I was the one that would have to save them and I wasn't afraid about that. I feel a little proud of my self. but man! I WAS SO CLOSE TO THAT BEAR!!!!!!
anyways we named her Bisquick and we let her go in the morning. if I get the video, I'll post it! =) if u wanna know more, ask me questions!
love,
Victor (aka Becky) ((long story))
